Question about Nizoral anti dandruff shampoo.?

This shampoo contains Ketoconazole which can damage your liver and kidneys. My dandruff is bad, but I dont know if I should be using something so dangerous. What should I do and has anyone tried Nizoral? Also is it really THAT effective?Question about Nizoral anti dandruff shampoo.?
Have you tried using alternatives? There are some natural alternatives. My dematologist told me not to use head and shoulders because it can make a person loose hair. The active ingreadient is Zinc. There are some good sampoo alternatives that are natural. It all depends on how bad your hair is and what your doctor and you decide on.

I really like this series of natural shampoos they really soothe my salp

I do not think drugstore.com takes returns, but wild oats takes them with recipts check your store before purchaces. There is a store online for avalon organics you can check with them for other stores and see if they take returns.

I got this one at supercuts and it was really soothing

Supercuts does offer returns with recipt. Make sure that particular store does before you purchase.

Here is one that is natural from sephora. I have never tried it.

Sephora does have stores, so you can see if there is one in your community. They have a good return policy. Safe all recipts, mailing labels and packaging incase you need to return it.

If you do order it on line make sure to get 3 free samples, the free gift sachel, and use a promo code. There is a whole list of them in my answers and they are also all over the net. Also there is free shipping on a certain size order.

See if any of these natural approaches works. Hopefully it does. Proactive makes one, but it has the Zinc in it like the head and shoulder so it can cause hair loss also.

Hopefully one of these more natural things works for you. My hair itches so much. I understand. One other thing I was told was to keep conditioner off my scalp and rinse well. I now use just a detangler. I have long fine hair, so I really need something. I hope you find your way.

Also hopefully you are seeing a dermatologist for your dandruf and not just a primary care doc. If it persists make sure to see a specialist.

You take care I know how uncomfortable this is trust me.

Also talk to your doctor about the side effects you are reading about. They may be refering to when a person takes the medication interally. That is the tablet and not the shampoo. It might not be as bad as you think. But if you want to try natural approaches you can do that. You do not have to take medication you do not want to. Try talking to your doctor about all of this. You do have options. If you have tried all these natrual approaches it might just not be as bad for you to use this as you think.

Please read this precaution warning on ketoconazole the generic name for nizoral and disguss with your doc.

Notice how talks about hepatotoxicty (liver) happening and the tablets at the top of that. Then notice how it talks about plasma (blood) level of shampoo. Disguss this with your doctor. It looks like you have some choices and it might not be as bad as you think.Question about Nizoral anti dandruff shampoo.?
I have used it. It works pretty good. I don't think there is enough of Nizoral in it to hurt you. Plus, Once you use it a few times. You should only need to use it 2x per wk.
I used it (didn't get sick or anything), but I changed to a shampoo with pyrithicone zinc. It works just as well and it was cheaper. (I like Garnier, it smells better to me)
Yes it is pretty effective and I wouldn't worry about damage to your kidneys and liver from it because you aren't using it in large amounts on a daily basis.
I use it occasionally. It's pretty low concentration even with prescription. My liver is still fine :-). It works better then other stuff.

Has anyone experienced any negative side-effects from ';Nizoral(ketoconazole)'; anti-fungal shampoo?

Ok, I'll admit I may have used this product excessively like an ordinary shampoo (didn't know it was medicinal) and now my hair is really bad. It's extremely dry (or damaged? I don't know) and within just 3 days becomes pretty oily (dry and oily? weird combination eh?). So has anyone experienced similar side-effects and do you have any explanation? (like interaction b/w nizoral contents and the protein in hair?)Has anyone experienced any negative side-effects from ';Nizoral(ketoconazole)'; anti-fungal shampoo?
Stop using it it might be on RECALL and if you think it's damageing your hair don't use it it just makes it worse try Dove it works with in a day with hair repair you will love it!!Has anyone experienced any negative side-effects from ';Nizoral(ketoconazole)'; anti-fungal shampoo?

  • I can't get rid of dandruft. i tried every shampoo incl.nizorelle, nizoral etc..?

I don't know anymore. nothing helped.

is there any herbal remedy for this or something that can help?

i am so depressed, my hair looks disgusting full of flakes :(((((I can't get rid of dandruft. i tried every shampoo incl.nizorelle, nizoral etc..?
i have psoriasis on my scalp which id like neverending dandruff...heres what i do... before bed one night put olive oil or vitamin E oil (or any kind really just something natural) all over your scalp. put it on your fingertips and rub it in all over your scalp. then pin your hair up. it will moisturize and loosen the flake while you sleep. THEN when you wake up wash your hair (i do mine twice) and all that buildup will come off....scrub your scalp good....not only does it take it all of but since its moisturized you wont be itching it and making flakes all day :O)I can't get rid of dandruft. i tried every shampoo incl.nizorelle, nizoral etc..?
    Try

    Head %26amp; Shoulders

    OR

    Clear

I've heard that hot water (while showering) causes more dandruff

    Don't know if that's True

    Best Of Luck ~!!~

It's caused by a dry scalp.

If you keep your scalp moisturized it will go away.

    1. don't use shampoo with sulfates in the ingredients. They are commonly used in shampoos but are drying.

    2. Use a hair mask or hair cream on a regular basis until your scalp is in better condition.

~ Shampoo that is fortified with dead sea minerals and does not contain sulfates ~

yes it is more expensive than regular shampoo but it is worth it and coupon code ';blog10'; will get you a discount.

~ Hair cream that is organic and made with natural ingredients like Olive Oil ~

    http://www.amazon.com/Amika-Olive-Hair-M鈥?/a>

Again it's a little bit pricey but you don't need a ton of it. You put put some in your palm and then rub it into your scalp. You don't rinse it out you leave it in.
Head and Shoulders doesn't work for me. I went to the dermatologist when I was in high school and she gave me some kind of liquid to squirt on it and also a foam. Didn't work either. I use Head and Shoulders and Denorex a few days a week and regular shampoo the rest of the time. I've read that if you use dandruff shampoos everyday it can actually make it worse.
But Head and Shoulders. It will take like 3 to 4 use before it goes away. Just be patient.
it sounds chronic. You may need a prescribed shampoo. I would go to the doctor.

Question about the dandruff shampoo called Nizoral...?

Both my sister and I have dandruff and we have been using Head and Shoulders for a long time, but it's just not working. I heard about this really good (but expensive) dandruff shampoo called Nizoral. I just bought a bottle today. Does anyone here use it? How do you use it? In the directions it says to ';repeat';, but not ';repeat if desired';. Is a mandatory to ';REPEAT';?Question about the dandruff shampoo called Nizoral...?
I have that shampoo. It does work quite well, If you have hair which has better results when washed twice then REPEAT if you like. It is not neccessary to repeat always, it just depends upon the type of hair you have. Good luck ! ;)Question about the dandruff shampoo called Nizoral...?
This product is not meant to be used everyday, so just use it and make sure to use it 3 times a week max and you'll be just fine.
My BF had HORRIBLE scalp problems, he lived with it for months..Think penny sized dandruff flakes. he used Nizoral for about 3 weeks and it was freakin GONE!

it is harsh on the hair so only use it for as long as you need to. When the problem is gone, stop using it.
I'm glad i'm not the only one with dandruff problems. No it is not neccesary to repeat. It's simple apply it onto your scalp %26amp; wait about 5 minutes before rinsing it out. But I recommend you donot use this. I have used it %26amp; its not very effective. %26amp; it damages your hair. The product I recommend is Selsun Blue. It works %26amp; it keeps your hair in good shape.
