Herbal Essence has a new shampoo, it's called featherlight or something, it's in an orange bottle with swirls. Well we got them in at work, but since their new we only got the shampoo, not the conditioner yet. They have questions on the back, and the answers are on the other one. The answer on the shampoo is 'in their bra'. Well, I really want to know what the question is! Does anybody know? It's making me kind of mad, lol. Thanks!What is the question? Has anyone tried the free haircut from Herbal Essence shampoo or conditioner? If you buy this product, they will send you a voucher for a free haircut at selected hairdressers in your area. The reason why I ask, is my neighbour would like to make a drastic change to her hairstyle, from long to very short, but she can't decided which hair salon to go to. My suggestion was to apply for the voucher and go to the salon they have selected, as this salon will try harder to maintain your custom by giving you an excellent haircut. Any commentsHas anyone tried the free haircut from Herbal Essence shampoo?
That sounds like a good suggestion. She should also 'scope the place out' first, and see if she likes what she sees. If the hairstyles on the stylists and customers are not to her liking, she may not want to go there.
May I offer an altenative? There are some salons that use computer imaging that lets you see what you look like in various styles, and colors, before you let the scissors touch your hair. Your neighbor might wish to check and see if there are any such salons in her area.

as a salon owner and experienced stylist, have never know these promotions to be free, there is always a catch, and probably the most expensive salon, that will push you into spending more, but above all if your friend is looking for a drastic makeover ie long to very short, she should make a consultation with a salon she would be happy with, ideally a salon that uses computer technology that can show her the Finnish style and what she would look like before any scissors go near her head,your hair is your growing glory and why try to do it on the cheap, get recommendations from friends of a decent salon etc, I am also sure there will be clauses in the free haircut offer ie no restyling and all that goes with it

Use whatever soap you are comfortable with, but dog shampoos and conditioners are specially formulated for your dogs skin and hair needs which are different from ours, so i would not recommend people shampoo. We lightly wash our dogs head and rinse it very well, being careful to avoid the eyes and ears. I bathe my weimaraner about once a month with oatmeal based shampoo from the dog store,I do wash his head too,but very carefully as he doesn't like that either,I always put cotton balls into his ears and after every bath I do his paws,put some cream on it if it's dry,especially in the winter and then I do his pedicure.He doesn't like it much,but he's use to it since he was a puppy so he holds of course he gets a treat after it all the time for being a good dog :-)
I have 2 dogs which were prone to dandruff from a commercial shampoo - I found a fab product from Perfect Potion I think its called furry animal shampoo. Its all natural and smells great and you can wash the face and head! (Just dry ears well and clean with cotton buds I use a vet approved ear cleaner)
i used to bathe dogs in a grooming shop and we used to wash their head first and always hold the dogs head up when you are rinsing the soap. be careful to keep water out of their ears and eyes. in the groomers i worked at: for a dirty dog they will use diluted sunlight dish soap first and let that set. then they would either a second round of sunlight or an oatmeal soap followed by a conditioning treatment that made tangles easier to comb.
When you are done with the bath give your dog a treat and tell hm he was a good boy or whatever praise you use. he will learn that he will get a reward for good behavior in the tub. i have a newfoundlander and the treats really help me get her clean!

You really don't need to use soap on the face nor spaying water on the head. Just use a wash cloth on the face and clean around the eyes any discharge but very carefully.
I start with the head first then lather up th neck, shoulder, chest, back, belly, tail area and leg and paws. Lather twice if real dirty. Then rinse well and apply conditioner and work in well and rinse again.
Be careful not to get water in the ears. You can put cotton in the ears before bathing to keep water out.
Dry the dog off with nice thick terry towel and if you want use a hair dryer on low heat. Don't hold it too close to the dog. I brush the hair while drying. On long hair dogs the hair doesn't look so wild and out of control if you brush it as the hair is drying. Do it gently so you don't break any of the hairs.
After bathing it is a good time to trim the nails. Your vet can show you the proper way to do it and the best clipper for your dog. Your dog will look like a show dog by the time your are done.
Just remember to talk to your dog in a nice calm voice while you are bathing and caring for him. I'm sure he will start to not mind it so much. Have fun!
Well I can only tell you from experience.. like 50 years of it.. bathing my dogs and puppies.. Use tepid or slightly warm water. I wet the first half of the dog and wash the face and head with baby shampoo.. then wash the neck with flea or dog shampoo, then the front shoulders and chest with flea shampoo... then rinse the face and neck and lather up the rest of your dog with the flea shampoo.. rinse the neck again and then proceed to shoulders and chest. when you have made sure the face head and shoulders are clean and rinsed.. go on and rinse the rest of the dog.. have a couple dry cotton towels ready. Dry the dog and wrap with the second dry towel for a few minutes because the dog will want to shake the water off and it will be going all over you and the house.. when the dog is dry you can use a flea collar or flea drops.. or if you get flea tablets use them only according to the vets directions for your size and age dog. Confidentially, dogs love to nap under a pine tree and lore has it that flys and fleas don't like to be around a pine tree.. but I don't know since I have never napped there. :) You can find good dog care books at your local library for an experts opinion on many facets of dog care. You can read the info there and make copies for a few cents of any page you might want to keep. good luck

I have a 7 mo cockapoo who of course is long haired. when we first got him he was 6wks and I would bathe him almost daily because I didn't realize puppies have a ';smell'; for the first couple of months. When I told the vet this she advised me to only bathe him if possible once monthly and to use an oatmeal based shampoo. this helps keep their skin from drying out or getting itchy. I completely cover my dog with lather even around his eyes to get the eye boogers out of his coat. He doesn't like it but he needs to bathe!! hope this helps.

Dog shampoo can be expensive and because you only give a dog a bath so often it might not be worth spending so much money. You can use mane and tail shampoo it was created for horses but now humans use it and it is safe. It states on the bottle that its also safe for Dogs! Pretty Cool and it smells good!

I like the oatmeal soap for my dogs and then I use a conditioner because they have long hair.
I wash the head first, to get it over with, so they can enjoy the rest of the bath knowing the bad part is over.
My dogs prefer to have a bath in my bathtub with me and the water pick, I can put the water pick under their tummies and around the face without getting it in their eyes. They actually love the bath now that I am doing that way with the warm water. They can also shake...and it doesn't make a mess.
Use dog shampoo,I use ppl shampoo, and conditioner, put cotton wool in the dogs ears,just wipe his face with a wet cloth,and be sure to rinse thoroughly.Make it quick some dogs do not like it. talk to him all the time reassure him, tell how good it is. lol

My dogs prefer to have a bath in my bathtub with me and the water pick, I can put the water pick under their tummies and around the face without getting it in their eyes. They actually love the bath now that I am doing that way with the warm water. They can also shake...and it doesn't make a mess.
Use dog shampoo,I use ppl shampoo, and conditioner, put cotton wool in the dogs ears,just wipe his face with a wet cloth,and be sure to rinse thoroughly.Make it quick some dogs do not like it. talk to him all the time reassure him, tell how good it is. lol

So, I have been through three sets of bottles so far. But yeah, they're awesome! I would recommend them to anyone!

I used the Dangerously Straight range...dangerous is right. I bought it after reading reviews that although it didn't straighten your hair, it made your hair easier to brush and my hair is very difficult to brush at times.
After about 2-3 weeks of using it I noticed that my hair has been falling out in an increasing manner. I've heard that on average a person losses about 100 strands of hair...well I normally lost about 20-30 and after using this shampoo and conditioner I was losing about a handful while conditioning and brushing.
I blamed the over overload of ALS in te Herbal Essences. Where normal shampoos contained one cleaning agent, Herbal Essences had both Ammonium Laureth Sulfate AND Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate. When I researched ALS and SLS (Sodium in place of Ammonium) it turned up with a lot of information and apparently it can cause some peopel hair loss and other problems.
Since then, I've switched to ';natural'; shampoos which are SLS and ALS free. It's been about 4-5 months and my hair isn't falling out as much as it was when I used Herbal Essences but it's definitely still falling out a lot more than it used to. My hair is much thinner than it used to be. I don't think my hair will ever return to it's original state....but I can hope.
I don't know if it'll make YOUR hair fall out because everyone is different but it certainly made mine fall out.
i don't think it makes you shed more because normally we shed hair everyday and that is normal. however, from personal experience the new herbal essence shampoos and conditioners actually made my hair dry and my hair felt like hay. Despite the great smell i wouldn't recommend it. personally i like head and shoulders and sunsilk is pretty good. If you dont want your hair to fall out use products with less chemicals.

I can't imagine that this popular shampoo causing hair loss. Use a shampoo suited for your type of hair and any brand will be good. Use a clarifying shampoo once a month, and don't use the same brand of shampoo all the time.

if u used salon shampoos and u didnt see a difference is because ppl assume that if the shampoois expensive and sold at salon... it'll work well....THATS A LIE!!
ask your hairdresser what type of shampoo she/he would recomend for your skin/hair type!
if it works well for you in about 5 washes you should notice a difference in your hair! if not the beauty of buying shampoo at a salon... is you can exchange it and try differnt products until you find the right one!!
p.s remember if your friend/a member on yahoo recomends a shampoo.... dont listen tothem... because they dont have enough knowledge on hair and YOUR hair... to recomedn stuff....

I used the Dangerously Straight range...dangerous is right. I bought it after reading reviews that although it didn't straighten your hair, it made your hair easier to brush and my hair is very difficult to brush at times.
After about 2-3 weeks of using it I noticed that my hair has been falling out in an increasing manner. I've heard that on average a person losses about 100 strands of hair...well I normally lost about 20-30 and after using this shampoo and conditioner I was losing about a handful while conditioning and brushing.
I blamed the over overload of ALS in te Herbal Essences. Where normal shampoos contained one cleaning agent, Herbal Essences had both Ammonium Laureth Sulfate AND Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate. When I researched ALS and SLS (Sodium in place of Ammonium) it turned up with a lot of information and apparently it can cause some peopel hair loss and other problems.
Since then, I've switched to ';natural'; shampoos which are SLS and ALS free. It's been about 4-5 months and my hair isn't falling out as much as it was when I used Herbal Essences but it's definitely still falling out a lot more than it used to. My hair is much thinner than it used to be. I don't think my hair will ever return to it's original state....but I can hope.
I don't know if it'll make YOUR hair fall out because everyone is different but it certainly made mine fall out.
i don't think it makes you shed more because normally we shed hair everyday and that is normal. however, from personal experience the new herbal essence shampoos and conditioners actually made my hair dry and my hair felt like hay. Despite the great smell i wouldn't recommend it. personally i like head and shoulders and sunsilk is pretty good. If you dont want your hair to fall out use products with less chemicals.

that one would probably work best. but honestly i wouldn't use herbal essences since they've changed it, it doesn't suit my hair. i use pantene pro-v and it defrizzes my hair and makes it REALLY soft. :) i would use that. I use repair and protect but you would probably need a different one. Hope I helped :)

I don't know if you'll get one where you live. But it's an UK based product, so if you're in the UK you'll probably have it somewhere. I live in a third world country, and we still get those here, so I guess if you're in US of A, you'll probably get it there, too. I don't know. Do a little research, coz this shampoo is greattttt. It smells good, too.

its my favorite drugstore brand. smells great and makes your super soft. long term relationship is my favorite, but it does have lots of silicones in it so make sure you cleanse weekly.

The shampoos that you buy in the stores usually have a high content of alcohol in them which is very drying to the scalp. They also contain alot of waxes....in my salon we show people this by carefully scraping at the hair with shears. There is such a big build up of wax you can definately see. They usually are disgusted and end up buying the professional products in the salon. Professional products are a bit pricier but you get what you pay for.Is Herbal Essence shampoo any good or is it damaging?

I don't think it had anything at all to do with the shampoo. On average we lose up to 100 hairs a day from our heads - hair is constantly growing and dying.

If this ever happens again, you should go to the doctor's as hair loss may just be a symptom of something more serious. I have super long hair (almost to the small of my back). Mine has a bit of a unique texture, fine but lots of hair, and it's picky so hopefully anything that will be good for me will work for you.
I use either Garnier shampoo and conditioner in Length and Strength or Pantene Pro V Naturals (that one with the green cap) which makes my hair incredibly soft. Also I use Aussie's deep conditioner once a week or so.
As far as helping your hair to grow back quickly, be gentle with it when you brush, and get it trimmed regularly to get rid of split ends. Try to wash it only every other day if you can, a pinch of baby powder will get rid of any extra oil on the second day.
Edit: I just found this on another question, I have no idea of it works or not, but here it is. ';If your hair is damaged after this [bleaching], a good way to fix that is prenatal vitamins. They make your hair stronger, thicker and healthier (it takes a few months though!). As long as you don't mind having the people at the store think you're preggers. ; )';

I have super long hair (almost to the small of my back). Mine has a bit of a unique texture, fine but lots of hair, and it's picky so hopefully anything that will be good for me will work for you.
I use either Garnier shampoo and conditioner in Length and Strength or Pantene Pro V Naturals (that one with the green cap) which makes my hair incredibly soft. Also I use Aussie's deep conditioner once a week or so.
As far as helping your hair to grow back quickly, be gentle with it when you brush, and get it trimmed regularly to get rid of split ends. Try to wash it only every other day if you can, a pinch of baby powder will get rid of any extra oil on the second day.
Edit: I just found this on another question, I have no idea of it works or not, but here it is. ';If your hair is damaged after this [bleaching], a good way to fix that is prenatal vitamins. They make your hair stronger, thicker and healthier (it takes a few months though!). As long as you don't mind having the people at the store think you're preggers. ; )';

I like the ';None of your Frizziness';. It's like red, and it works really well. It makes the frizz go away and it leaves your hair really and maneagable.
It's discontinued: the Herbal Essences for Fine/Limp hair. It made my hair into smooth, frizzless silk, and it smelled pretty nice, too.

The thing is human shampoo is NOT NOT NOT okay for animals, as we have learned in animal testing labs. And it's fine to give them baths, just make sure you DO NOT use people products. They are an entirely different species, we can't expect that they will react the same way we do to people products.

because despite its name it still has harsh chemicals in it. use a natural organic shampoo.they will help your hair greatly and wash out all the chemicals from it.
I use giovanni tea tree shampoo and conditioner on my hair and it works great.
you can find them at some grocery stores and co-ops.
don't be fooled by some of the natural brands..read the ingredient list first..if it has any funny sounding names like sodium lauryl/th sulfate don't use it.
I think that might be because you haven't totally washed out some of the shampoo.
Herbal essences does kinda ';not leave'; your hair sometimes.
Perhaps try using a little baking soda with water in your hair and wash it off, once, to get rid of the shampoo residue.
Or a less oily/moisturizing etc shampoo.
Odd. Maybe just try conditioning your ends? I always find that I have to switch shampoos/conditioners every 5-6 months or so because eventually it's almost like it just kind of stops working lol it's weird. Aussie, Tresemme, and sunsilk are all good products

this information is useful for consumers (people who are using the product).
so check the back of pantene products and youll find one thatll treat your hair. :)

because despite its name it still has harsh chemicals in it. use a natural organic shampoo.they will help your hair greatly and wash out all the chemicals from it.
I use giovanni tea tree shampoo and conditioner on my hair and it works great.
you can find them at some grocery stores and co-ops.
don't be fooled by some of the natural brands..read the ingredient list first..if it has any funny sounding names like sodium lauryl/th sulfate don't use it.
I think that might be because you haven't totally washed out some of the shampoo.
Herbal essences does kinda ';not leave'; your hair sometimes.
Perhaps try using a little baking soda with water in your hair and wash it off, once, to get rid of the shampoo residue.
Or a less oily/moisturizing etc shampoo.
Odd. Maybe just try conditioning your ends? I always find that I have to switch shampoos/conditioners every 5-6 months or so because eventually it's almost like it just kind of stops working lol it's weird. Aussie, Tresemme, and sunsilk are all good products

I have dry scalp and thin hair as well. I wash my hair every week with medicated shampoo(something for dandruff). I also use any hot oil treatments(let it sit for 5-10mins) then wash it out. I put the conditioner in my hair and let that sit for 5 mins then wash it out and blow dry my hair. My hair is nice and healthy(eventhough thin). In the past i have taking Ultra Hair vitamins from GNC. They made my hair thicker and it actually grew longer. Carol's Daughter products are very good as well (expensive though). I use those products too. they are loaded with herbs and vitamins. It helps make your hair stronger and it rarely breaks off(from damage). I have never had dandruff until a couple of months after having baby girl. Since I haven't been able to get rid of it. I'm thinking it may be fungal/over growth of yeast. Have you heard of or are you someone who has used this while breastfeeding? It says ask a doctor. I looked it up on kellymom.com and it safe ';approved'; for lactation/pregnancy and a category of L2 for lactation which is titled as ';safer'; and said little to no affects of nursling.
